emerging intestinal microsporidia infection in hiv(+)/aids patients in iran: microscopic and molecular detection.
نویسندگان
چکیده
background: species of microsporidia have been known as opportunistic obli-gate intracellular parasites particularly in immunocompromised patients. enterocyto-zoon bieneusi is one of most prevalent intestinal microsporida parasites in hiv + /aids patients. in this study, intestinal microsporidia infection was deter-mined in hiv + /aids patients using microscopic and molecular methods. methods: stool samples were collected from hiv + /aids patients during 12 months. all of the stool specimens washed with pbs (ph: 7.5). slim slides were prepared from each sample and were examined using light microscope with 1000x magnification. dna extraction carried out in microscopic positive samples. dna amplification and genus/species identification also performed by nested-pcr and sequencing techniques. results: from 81 stool samples, 25 were infected with microsporidia species and e. bieneusi were identified in all of positive samples. no encephalitozoon spp . was identified in 81 collected samples using specific primers. conclusion: e. bieneusi is the most prevalent intestinal microsporidia in immuno-compromised patients of iran. on the other hand, nested-pcr using specific pri-mers for ssu rrna gene is an appropriate molecular method for identification of e. bieneusi .

Equine piroplasmosis is a tick-borne disease caused by intra-erythrocyte protozoa, Theileria equi and Babesia caballi. The present study aimed to detect piroplasm infection in horses in Kurdestan Province, Iran, through molecular and microscopic approaches.n this study, 186 blood samples were randomly collected from horses of five regions of Kurdestan Province. The Tbs-S/Tbs-A primer set was us...

Background Microsporidia have been reported as the cause of opportunistic infections in immunocompromised patients in Iran and other countries. There is no data on prevalence of intestinal microsporidia in healthy population of Iran. This study aimed to provide preliminary data on the present status of microsporidia infection in the local healthy population in Jiroft, Kerman Province from south...

Bovine theileriosis is an important tick-borne disease caused by intraerythrocytic parasites from genus Theileria. This study sought to detect the theileriosis among cattle and buffaloes using molecular and microscopic tests in West Azerbaijan, Iran. For this purpose, 484 blood samples from 193 cattle and 291 buffaloes were collected during March to July 2014. The breed, gender, age, and habita...

The aim of this study was to identify equine piroplasmosis based on molecular and morphometrical features in horses in suburb of Urmia, West Azerbaijan province, Iran. From April to September 2011, a total number of 240 blood samples were collected ...
متن کاملmicroscopic and molecular detection of theileria (babesia) equi infection in equids of kurdistan province, iran
background: equine piroplasmosis (ep) is the cause of persistent tick-borne infection with no symptoms, but the most important problem of ep is due to the persistent carrier state. carrier animals to babesia ( theileria ) equi (laveran 1901) and b. caballi (nuttall, 1910) infestation could be identified by extremely sensitive pcr-based method. the purpose of this study was to identify the causa...
